Kensington Palace celebrates a Victorian Christmas
Published: Tuesday 25th of November 2008
The festive traditions familiar to a young Queen Victoria will be explored at Kensington Palace this Christmas.
From December 18th to 21st, the famous royal property will recreate the sights, sounds and tastes of the Christmas season from when the famous British monarch was just a Princess, prior to her accession to the throne.
Guests will be able to explore the games and pastimes played at this special time of year and can try their hand at making their own authentic Christmas cards.
What's more, visitors will also be able to sample of the food and entertainment on offer – no doubt very different from the stuff of modern times.
Kensington Palace was Queen Victoria's childhood home, having been born there in 1829.
The historic building has had a consistent place in royal life for hundreds of years and marked the beginning of the funeral procession for Diana, Princess of Wales in September 1997.
LondonPass holders can enjoy free admission to Kensington Palace, saving £12.30 for adults and £6.15 for children.
