In Search of a Midnight Kiss at the Curzon Cinemas
Published: Wednesday 11th of June 2008
Dubbed the indie discovery of the year, the film (which is shot in monochrome) follows a 29-year-old jobless actor called Wilson - played by Scoot McNairy - as he looks for a new start and romance.
After placing a personal ad for a blind date, Wilson hooks up with independent-minded Vivian. The couple wander the downtown streets of Los Angeles, taking in the grimier side of the city.
Film reviewer Alex Holdridge writes in Time Out London that classic films such as Jean-Luc Godard's À Bout de Souffle and Woody Allen's Manhattan come to mind when watching the laid LA hipster flick.
