Britain anticipates 'hottest days of the year'

Published: Monday 29th of June 2009

The Met Office has warned that temperatures look set to soar throughout the country this week, leading health warnings to be issued.

Lowest temperatures in some areas may not fall below 18 degrees C, it said, while some areas may experience highs of around 30 degrees C.

"The very warm conditions will last well into next week, with the hottest days of the summer so far and a 60% chance of reaching 32 degrees C," noted chief forecaster at the Met Office Andy Page.

Last week saw the highest temperature of the year recorded at Heathrow Airport, where a high of 28 degrees C was logged by the Met Office.

Anyone thinking of enjoying the capital's hot weather over the coming days may want to consider taking advantage of the London Pass, which gives free entry to a whole host of top attractions.

Among them is the London Wetland Centre, which allows people to enjoy the great outdoors for less.
