A treat for music lovers at Banqueting House
Published: Tuesday 3rd of June 2008
Throughout its history, Banqueting House in London has played a prominent role in the lives (and deaths) of Royals, nobles and clergymen.
The top London attraction is now the venue for regular performances by the great and the good from the world of classical music and opera.
Upcoming performances include a recital of Bach, Handel and Vivaldi compositions by Concertante of London on June 9th.
Spanish tenor Jose Mario Guerrero will perform on June 23rd, while the Whitehall Choir will host an evening of English secular music on July 7th.
Finally, Hannah Francis will sing well-known songs and arias on July 21st.
Designed by Inigo Jones for King James I, Banqueting House was later the scene of the beheading of King Charles I in 1649. It is the only complete surviving building of Whitehall Palace.
