Visit London attractions on improved transport in 2010

Published: Thursday 31st of December 2009

Those visiting England's capital over the coming years will be able to travel between London attractions with greater ease as millions of pounds are to be spent on improving local transport, it has been announced.

The Mayor of London Boris Johnson confirmed this week that £5.7 million is to be given to Westminster, the home of many London attractions, to spend on improving transport, roads and other schemes.

Mr Johnson said: "The investment means that across the capital, town centres and public spaces are being overhauled, cycling and walking facilities are being improved, and roads are being made safer."

He went on to say that extra focus was being put on cycling, with the provision of better parking facilities and the introduction of two Cycle Superhighways next year.

Transport for London also recently issued a reminder to those visiting London this week that travel on the London Underground, busses, DLR and Tramlink will be free on New Year's Eve between 23:45 and 04:30 GMT.
