Things to do in London: Tourists set to benefit from new safety push
Published: Tuesday 9th of March 2010
Tourists taking advantage of the London Bicycle Tour Company services this summer could be set to benefit from a new cycle safety push across the capital.
The new Safety Action Plan will launch with support from an advertising campaign this week, urging Londeners to sign up for cycle training funded by Transport for London.
It is hoped that the action plan and marketing campaign will improve cycling safety in the capital, making it an even better place to enjoy London attractions on two wheels.
Commenting on the launch, Mayor of London Boris Johnson said: "The arrival of spring in London is now accompanied by a glorious cornucopia of cyclists taking to the streets in a purposeful display of pedal power."
Tourists taking advantage of London's cycling routes last week may have been lucky enough to pass through east London's Spitalfields, which was playing host to the EAST festival.
Celebrating cultural diversity in the capital, more than 100 specially-curated artists led events during this year's event.
