St Paul's Cathedral Organ Rededication Concerts
Published: Sunday 13th of July 2008
This year, to mark the conclusion of the £750,000 restoration work that the St Paul's Cathedral organ has undergone, two fantastic recitals are being planned.
Taking place later this year, the concerts planned for St Paul's Cathedral have been organised by the world-renowned organists Olivier Latry and Thomas Trotter.
Beginning in October 2008, the rededication series will also include a newly commissioned organ work that has been written for children and will be performed at the Lord Mayor's Show Day by Guy Bovet, a Swiss composer.
On October 30th 2008 the series of concerts will open with a recital by Oliver Latry ahead of a special children's event on November 8th in which the famous tale of Dick Whittington will be brought to life with organ and percussion music composed by Guy Bovet.
The rededication winds up on December 7th with a traditional performance of La Nativite by Messiaen.
