Save on London attractions as mayor plans to make capital 'best on earth'
Published: Saturday 17th of October 2009
Mayor of London Boris Johnson has said he hopes to make London the "best big city on earth", through the implementation of three interlinked strategy documents, which are now open to public consultation.
The draft Mayor's Transport Strategy plans to improve transport in the city, which would make it safer and easier for tourists to travel between London attractions.
Mr Johnson also hopes to improve the environment and tackle climate change through reducing carbon dioxide emissions, which would improve air quality and make London sightseeing more pleasant for visitors to the city.
Earlier this month Mr Johnson published a draft air quality strategy, called Clearing the Air, which outlines the key sources of London's harmful airborne pollutants and proposes an action plan to reduce emissions.
He said: "I want London to be the best big city on earth. That means a place that brims with opportunity, talent and economic activity, but also a place where children can grow up in safety, and where all Londoners can get around their city with ease as they share equitably in our city's success."
