Revamp unveiled on DLR
Published: Tuesday 3rd of March 2009
Travelling around London has been made much easier as the city's Tower Gateway Docklands Light Railway (DLR) station has reopened after a multi-million pound revamp.
It had been closed for eight months to allow the £13 million of upgrades to take place, which includes the installation of a horseshoe-shape platform which allows passengers to alight the train more efficiently.
"Our new look Tower Gateway station includes many benefits for passengers and I am confident they will be impressed by its improved facilities and better accessibility," comments Jonathan Fox, director of the DLR.
He adds that the improvements will be of particular benefit to those heading between Woolwich and London City Airport and Beckton via ExCeL and the University of East London.
Visitors to the city can take advantage of the improved rail links by getting their hands on a London travel card, costing just £7 per day with their London Pass.
