Pedestrian access to London attractions to get safe with traffic light timers

Tourists making their way to London attractions will soon find crossing the capital's busy roads even safer, following the launch of a new traffic light timer scheme.
London pedestrians will be the first in the UK to benefit from new digital countdown timers that tell them how long they have to safely cross a road.
Commenting on the launch of the new scheme, Mayor of London Boris Johnson said: "This technology already works well in other cities around the world and by bringing it to London's streets is just one of the ways we are continuing to improve the experience of travelling around the Capital."
The introduction of the new countdown timers will begin with a trial at the end of this month, ahead of the launch of the Barclays Cycle Hire scheme in the capital, which is widely expected to improve transport options for tourists keen to move between attractions.
