London reveals Cycle Superhighways

Published: Saturday 6th of June 2009

London's first two Cycle Superhighways are to be launched in the city to allow people a safe means of travelling around the city.

Mayor of London Boris Johnson revealed the two corridors would run between South Wimbledon and Bank, and from Barking to Tower Hill.

"No longer will pedal power have to dance and dodge around petrol power - on these routes the bicycle will dominate and that will be clear to all others using them," he said.

Mr Johnson claimed the experience of cycling around the city would be improved by the links, which he revealed as one of his personal favourite modes of transport.

Anyone heading to London can take advantage of exploring it on two wheels for less thanks to the London Pass.

It allows visitors to take a ride with the London Bicycle Tour Company, saving £18.95 on the usual cost of the top attraction.
