Guided tunnel boat trips from London Canal Museum

This summer visitors to London explore the city's underground on a canal barge with the London Canal Museum.
Tourists can travel by boat via Islington tunnel on the Regent's Canal, which was opened in 1820.
Travelling through this three-quarters of a mile tunnel, tourists can learn more about the role the tunnel played in early London life.
Originally, boats had to be pushed through the tunnel when it first opened by a process known as legging.
This meant that men had to lie out on the boat and push against the walls with their legs to see the craft through.
Nowadays, tours take place on the converted narrowboat Tarporley.
Visitors to London Canal Museum can enjoy a return trip lasting around an hour and as the majority of the trip takes place within the tunnel, bad weather cancellations are not a concern.
