City's waterways set for regeneration

Published: Monday 6th of April 2009

Plans have been unveiled which will improve river services throughout London, the mayor suggests.

Boris Johnson says the proposals will involve pier owners, boat operators and borough councils, who will join forces to enhance river links throughout the city.

"With the right mixture of investment and imagination river services can become a truly integral, as well as an extremely pleasant, part of the capital's transport network," the mayor reveals.

He adds that the proposals will make travelling by river much easier, with the Thames also set to play an important role during the 2012 Olympics.

At present, over 30 organisations have signed up to the scheme, which will see signs improved and people able to make the decision on which mode of transport is most suited to their needs.

With the London Pass, visitors can see the sights for themselves by embarking on a Thames River Boat Cruise, saving £10.50 on the price of a normal ticket.
