Better access to things to do in London with East London overground
Published: Friday 7th of May 2010
Tourists will now have better access to London attractions after the new East London overground train route was opened to the public.
The new piece of rail infrastructure moves the capital one step closer to delivering the London Olympic 2012 demands ahead of schedule, and will enable easier access to key London attractions such as the Royal Albert Hall, Tower Bridge Exhibition and City Cruises from across the city.
Cross-river rail routes between Dalston Junction and via the City and Docklands to New Cross will also provide new opportunities and access to other parts of London to its residents.
Commenting on the opening of the new line, Mayor of London Boris Johnson said: "This type of investment is essential if London, throwing off the shackles of recession, is to emerge with the ability to grow, prosper and secure its position at the summit of world cities, to the benefit of all Londoners."
Preparations for the 2012 Games continue to move at an impressive pace, with the Olympic Delivery Authority announcing at the start of last month that it had began testing at the Aquatics Centre venue, which is due to host the swimming and diving events.
