'Virtual black cabbie' Boris Johnson tells topical London attraction tales
Published: Saturday 19th of June 2010
A new website enables tourists to take a ride in iconic black cab to London attractions, driven by the capital's mayor Boris Johnson.
Greeting passenger's with a chummy "where to guv'ner?", Mr Johnson offers travellers some enlightening stories and insights into each location before setting off on the virtual trip.
The site has been developed by the ICC London Excel centre, which is also one of the attractions on the map.
One of his tales is the story of a driver of the number 78 bus, who in 1952 was forced to leap the distance between the two rising sides of the bascule when the bridge watchman failed to notice the vehicle crossing from the south side of the river.
In other pre-journey chat, the affable Mr Johnson praises the hard work of the Olympic stadium contractors for their speedy construction of the massive development.
