Michelle Obama takes daughters on surprise London visit
Published: Tuesday 9th of June 2009
First lady Michelle Obama has taken her daughters on a surprise trip to London, taking in some of its top attractions along the way.
The whistle-stop tour took place on the way back from Paris after her husband attended the 65th anniversary of the D-Day Landings.
She embarked on a tour of the Houses of Parliament with daughters Malia and Sasha and was photographed leaving the London attraction with a souvenir brochure.
Pictured on the front was outgoing speaker Michael Martin, much to the bemusement of onlookers.
It is also rumoured that she had a private tour of Big Ben, which recently celebrated its 150th anniversary.
With the London Pass, taking a look at the city's most popular sites is made much more affordable.
For example, people can embark on National Theatre Backstage Tours, saving £5.90 on the cost of an adult ticket and £4.90 on a child's.
