London attractions: Tour Shakespeare's Globe Theatre
Published: Monday 12th of December 2011
Theatre fans looking to introduce a little history into their tour of London attractions should consider visiting Shakespeare's Globe Theatre.
Dedicated to the works of William Shakespeare, the site was set up to explore both the Bard's plays and the original Globe.
Attendees can take part in an exhibition and tour of the sites to gain a better understanding of the great man's work and to learn more through performance and education.
Visitors to the site before January 2nd will be able to experience the Frost Fair exhibition, which is based on the events of the same name that sprang up during the 20 times that the Thames froze between 1309 and 1804. A special focus will be given to the stalls and competitions that arose whenever this rare occurrence took place.
Theatre fans may also want to visit the First Actresses exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery, which explores the female faces of the stage in seventeenth and eighteenth-century Britain. It features famous paintings of Nell Gwyn, Kitty Clive and Hester Booth.
