Things to do in London: take part in the Big Dance festival

Published: Thursday 21st of January 2010

People planning to visit London attractions this summer are being asked by the Mayor of London to take some time out to get involved in a dance festival.

Big Dance is to take place on the streets of London between July 3rd and 11th 2010, and again in the summer of 2012, just before the Olympic and Paralympic Games come to the city.

Established in 2006, the biennial dance festival provides people with the opportunity to learn about, observe and take part in a variety of different dancing styles.

The Mayor of London Boris Johnson said: "Big Dance is a terpsichorean feast that takes it quite literally one step further. We want to get as many people moving as possible this July and afterwards, to 2012 and beyond."

T-Mobile is the sponsor of this year's festival and is organising a 10,000-person Big World Dance, which will culminate in Trafalgar Square.

Trafalger Square is a short walk from many London attractions, including the Churchill Museum and Cabinet War Rooms.
