Things to do in London: make your money go further
Published: Thursday 5th of November 2009
Current exchange rates mean that overseas visitors can get "great value" when visiting London attractions, according to a UK tourism trade association.
Mary Rance, chief executive at UKinbound, said: "Many overseas travellers are still unaware that the fluctuations in exchange rates now mean that the UK offers them better value."
She added that the government is investing in overseas marketing to raise awareness of the "fantastic value" currently on offer in Britain, and claims that this could ensure that 2010 is a "bumper year for inbound travel".
Ms Rance's comments follow London's rating as one of the ten best value destinations in the world by Lonely Planet.
According to August 2009 tourism figures from the Office for National Statistics published on October 15th, visits to the UK by overseas residents rose by three per cent during June to August compared with the previous three months.
The statistics also showed that associated spending by overseas residents on visits to the UK increased by one per cent to £4.1 billion.
