Save on London Sightseeing: Visit the Regent Street Festival

Published: Wednesday 23rd of September 2009

In-between visiting London Attractions join the Regent Street Festival as it celebrates its tenth birthday this Sunday.

Regent Street is one of London's busiest shopping streets but once a year it is closed to traffic for the day to make way for the free Regent Street Festival.

Celebrations will take place between 12pm and 8pm on Sunday, September 27th, with live music on the main stage, a fashion show, stilt walkers, roaming musicians, a ferris wheel, a carousel, children's rides and street performers.

The food quarter, comprising of Heddon Street and Swallow Street, will be serving food and drinks throughout the festival and at 3pm two giant birthday cakes made of thousands of little cup cakes will be served.

Outside toy store Hamleys there will be a children's lawn which will be home to face painters, animal characters, a birthday tea party, balloon artists and magicians.

The festival first began in 1999 and has a different theme every year - this year's is birthdays.

After a morning of visiting some of London's best attractions such as the Guards Museum or Jewel Tower, catch an underground train to the Oxford Circus or Picadilly Circus tube stops to get to the Regent Street Festival.
