London sightseeing on bikes: cycling in the city to be made safer
Published: Monday 18th of January 2010
People planning to sightsee in England's capital with the London Bicycle Tour Company may soon be able to do so more safely, as Britain's leading cycling manufacturers, retailers and the Mayor of London recently met to discuss how the industry can support cyclists in the city.
In a meeting at the City Hall held on Friday, January 18th, Mayor of London Boris Johnson discussed ways in which the safety and security of cyclists could be improved.
Over the course of 2010, Mr Johnson and Transport for London are investing £111 million in a range of cycle projects, such as cycle superhighways and a cycle hire scheme.
"This is London's year of cycling, and I want to ensure that everything possible is done to break down the barriers that prevent people from taking up the cleanest, greenest, and often quickest means of getting around London," said Mr Johnson.
The London Bicycle Tour Company's trips were voted London's top attraction on Tripadvisor.com. There are a number of different tours allowing visitors to take in the sights of lots of London attractions.
