For things to do in London for the festive season, try Hampton Court Palace
Published: Tuesday 2nd of November 2010
With events and attractions galore, there has rarely been a better time to visit Henry VIII's most famous residence.
The Hampton Court Palace ice rink is returning this year between the November 27th and January 9th so visitors can get their skates on and enjoy this festive activity with the magnificent backdrop of the Palace's west front.
Over the festive period, enjoy the spectacle of Catherine Howard experiencing her first Christmas as queen at the palace. The Tudor Christmas, happening from December 27th to the January 2nd, will feature songs, stories, music and a jester as well as a historic feast.
In addition, the living Tudor world exhibition is on until the end of December. Henry VIII invites you to "take part in royal entertainments and celebrations” in honour of his wedding to his sixth wife, Kateryn Parr.
In his life, Henry had over 60 houses but Hampton Court was incredibly important to him - he spent more than £62,000 on the palace in ten years, which equates to an approximate £18 million today.
