English clubs battle it out for football glory

Published: Monday 19th of May 2008

This Wednesday witnesses one of the biggest nights in European football and it's an all-England affair.

London club Chelsea and Premier League title holders Manchester United travel to Moscow to take part in the Champions League final.

As the International Herald Tribune claims, there is no underdog in this final, with both teams consisting of gifted players - notably Christiano Ronaldo for United and Didier Drogba for Chelsea.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is eager to win his second trophy of the season and write another chapter in one of the world's most distinguished clubs.

He commented: "Look at the records of Real Madrid with nine titles, AC Milan with seven and Liverpool with five. Ajax and Bayern Munich have four each. That's the kind of record we should really have."

Chelsea meanwhile are aiming to win the top prize in European club football for the first time.
