View This is Design at the Design Museum for things to do in London

Published: Monday 12th of September 2011

For things to do in London, tourists could head to the Design Museum, where new exhibition This is Design is showing.

The display features highlights from the museum's collection including the Anglepoise lamp, UK road signs and traffic lights, the candlestick telephone and the Moulton bicycle.

Other highlights include new acquisitions the iconic red telephone box and a set of traffic lights designed by David Mellor.

This coincides with the 75th anniversary of the telephone box, designed by English architect Sir Giles Gilbert Scott and was the first standard telephone box to be installed all around the country.

Also not to be missed at the Design Museum is the Kenneth Grange Making Britain Modern exhibition, which tracks the career of the leading product designer.

Grange is responsible for some of the most iconic products of the last half century, including Kodak cameras, the Intercity 125 train silhouette, Kenwood food mixers, Parker pens and the redesign of the London black cab.
