Unusual footwear marks a special anniversary

Published: Monday 6th of October 2008

Visitors to the London Cartoon Museum in the West End will be able to see some unusual footwear before they go on sale to the general public.

Angeline Tournier's new collection includes a pair of wedge heels which feature artwork from the classic British comic, the Beano.

Tournier's previous designs have featured other cartoon designs, but the French-American designer was specially commissioned to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the popular British title.

The shoes will be on display at the museum until they go on sale at the beginning of next year.

They come in either red or silver with either a T-bar or peep-toe shape, with the cartoon element present on the wedge part of the shoe.

Luxury footwear label Angeline Tournier specialises in designing women's shoes that include a number of larger sizes, after the designer herself spent years frustrated by the lack of attractive shoes available beyond the conventional range.

LondonPass holders can enjoy free entry to the London Cartoon Museum, a saving of £4 off the usual price.
