Tower of London hosts Open House Weekend

Published: Friday 19th of September 2008

Visitors to London will have the opportunity to take an exclusive tour of the Tower of London's White Tower.

From September 20th to September 21st, a number of hourly tours will be held at the tower, offering visitors the chance to glimpse areas that are usually closed to the public.

Started by William the Conqueror just after the Norman Invasion, the White Tower is described as "a symbol of royalty, national and civic identity".

The building is currently being restored and cleaned as part of the White Tower Conservation Project and those visiting the tower this weekend can see how quickly work is progressing.

Other highlights of the Tower of London include the East Wall Walk, Medieval Palace and the Tower Green.

The tower also houses a number of exciting exhibitions and interactive displays such as Hands on History and Prisoners at the Tower.

Visitors can gain entry to the Tower of London using their London Pass
