Things to do in London: Visit the Alexander Fleming Laboratory Museum

Anybody interested in the history of healthcare and looking for things to do in London should take a trip to the Alexander Fleming Laboratory Museum, which tells the story of the world-famous discovery of penicillin in 1928.
Via an in-situ reconstruction of the laboratory, exhibits and a video, visitors will learn the fascinating story behind a scientific breakthrough that changed medicine forever.
Information is available in a variety of languages, including French, German, Spanish, Swedish, Polish, Japanese and Punjabi.
The Alexander Fleming Laboratory Museum was designated an International Historic Chemical Landmark by the American Chemical Society in 1999, while in 2000 it received an award from the Times as a national millennium treasure.
Alternatively, the Florence Nightingale Museum provides a wealth of background information on another of Britain's most famous medical professionals, as well as the chance to see some of her personal effects. The museum has also unveiled its latest audio guides this year.
