Things to do in London: Children's tales at Imperial War Museum
Published: Thursday 2nd of December 2010
Once Upon a Wartime: Classic War Stories for Children, which begins on February 11th 2011, presents life-size sets, scale models and interactive exhibits based around five well-loved children's books about wartime.
Carrie's War by Nina Bawden, The Machine Gunners by Robert Westall and War Horse by Michael Morpurgo are some of the books to feature in the exhibits.
Diane Lees, director-general of the Imperial War Museum, said: "The Imperial War Museum is the museum of everyone's story so focusing on these extraordinary fictional accounts of conflict is an innovative, and we hope successful, way of helping children, and adults, understand the experience of war."
The museum is also holding a tree decorating event together with educational talks centring around conflict and religious festivals between December 18th and the 22nd.
