Special historical treats for the school holidays

Published: Friday 14th of November 2008

A much-loved museum is holding a series of special events and activities for schoolchildren over the Christmas holidays this year.

London's Firepower Royal Artillery Museum will delight younger visitors from December 1st to January 4th with attractions such as the chances to dress up in military uniforms and hunt for hidden treasure.

For the more rough-and-tumble guests, paintball is also on offer. Plus, budding journalists and broadcasters with a love of history will be able to contribute to the museum's very own radio station.

With such a range of activities, the museum should offer something for everyone – parents will no doubt be pleased to learn that so much to occupy their kids over the forthcoming holiday season.

The original incarnation of the Royal Artillery Museum opened to the public in 1820 at a location in Woolwich. Its current home, within the Royal Arsenal, welcomed its first visitors in May 2001.

LondonPass holders can gain free entry to Firepower Royal Artillery Museum, saving adults £5 and children £2.50.
