Save on sightseeing in London at the amazing Fan Museum

Published: Tuesday 16th of March 2010

People looking to take in some of the quirkier London attractions might not be able to resist a trip to the Fan Museum - the only such establishment in the world dedicated entirely to the ancient art and craft of the fan.

And those who call in to the Fan Museum over the coming weeks will have the chance to see a special temporary exhibition, entitled The Music of the Fans.

The exhibition runs until July 4th and delves into the many facets of fans which feature musical themes, instruments, opera and other music-related subjects.

Gilbert and Sullivan, Rossini and Wagner are among the great musical names who are touched upon in this unique showcase, while some particularly intriguing one-off fans will be on display for all to see.

The museum stated: "Musical instruments featured on the fans are complemented with loans of the actual objects, kindly lent by private individuals. Another Fan Museum special, not to be missed."

Situated in Greenwich, the Fan Museum is home to a collection of more than 3,500 predominantly antique fans from around the world, dating from the 11th century to the present day.
