RAF Museum celebrates life of a pilot
Published: Tuesday 24th of February 2009
Visitors to the RAF Museum in London will be able to marvel at an art display celebrating the life of a world-class pilot.
Alex Henshaw took up flying at the age of 20 and won several awards for his successes, including winning the 1938 King's Cup Race.
Until March 31st, people will be able to see such events for themselves through art work, which will provide "dramatic insights into the bravery, stamina and ingenuity of a true trailblazer".
Among Mr Henshaw's other achievements was his career as a commercial pilot, a job he took up after the Second World War.
He also undertook a solo flight between London to Cape Town - a journey which propelled him to fame.
Those heading for the RAF Museum between February 28th and March 1st can help celebrate St David's Day by getting their children to make a Welsh dragon to take home.
Holders of the London Pass can gain free entry to the RAF Museum, saving £2.75 on both adult and children's tickets. They can also benefit from a free simulator ride.
