Packaging a load of "unnecessary rubbish"
Published: Sunday 22nd of February 2009
Retailers across the UK are being told off for using too much packaging, which undermines the country's recycling efforts, a new report shows.
Findings from the Local Government Association (LGA) suggest the environment is paying a price for our like of fancy packaging, which is also making things difficult for landfill sites.
"Supermarkets need to up their game so it’s easier for people to do their bit to help the environment," reveals councillor Margaret Eaton, chairman of the LGA.
Retailers need to stop producing "unnecessary rubbish", she continues, which will make things better all round.
Not content with letting too much packaging go to waste, London's Museum of Brands, Packaging and Advertising showcases thousands of examples from throughout the ages.
It can now be found in Notting Hill following a 17-year stint in Gloucester.
What's more, London Pass holders can visit the Museum of Brands, Packaging and Advertising, saving themselves £5.80 on the price of an adult ticket and £2 on a child's.
