Multimillion-pound campaign to boost London tourism

Published: Friday 27th of March 2009

Mayor of London Boris Johnson has announced a £2 million international marketing campaign aimed at boosting overseas visitors to London attractions.

Launching the campaign on the first day of British Tourism Week, Mr Johnson said London is becoming "even greater value for money".

He told visitors: "Their travel budget buys so much more in London and the only limit to their enjoyment will be not having enough hours in the day to fit it all in."

Mr Johnson highlighted several London attractions, including the Houses of Parliament, London Eye and West End theatres.

The Only in London campaign will focus on the unique and exceptional experiences, sights and attractions in the city, including London museums and London historic buildings.

Earlier this week, it was also revealed that London aims to become more accessible ahead of the 2012 Olympic Games.

Deputy mayor Richard Barnes is calling on residents and visitors to take part in a survey covering the best and worst things about the city and possible changes to accessibility.

With the London Pass, people can visit various locations throughout the capital, saving money on top attractions.
