London attractions: Visit the Britain at War Experience

Published: Monday 11th of July 2011

People of all ages who want to take a trip back in time can visit Winston Churchill's Britain at War Experience for things to do in London.

The theme museum provides one of the most immersive insights into what life during the London blitz was like, with special effects mimicking the feeling of an air raid complete with smoke, dust and noise.

Visitors can also descend to the London Underground air raid shelter and see where hundreds of families stayed to wait out the bombings.

The Britain at War Experience is particularly suited for schools making history trips, with special primary and secondary education packs available and the chance for pupils to dress up in gas masks and tin helmets.

Open seven days a week all year round, the museum has disabled access and toilet facilities as well as a number of good cafes and restaurants nearby for lunch.
