London attractions: Shaped by War at the Imperial War Museum

Published: Friday 16th of September 2011

The Shaped by War photography exhibit at the Imperial War Museum London is one of many fascinating things to do in London related to the country's military history.

Running from October 7th to April 15th, the major new exhibition looks at the life and work of critically acclaimed photographer Don McCullin.

Some of the 200 images in the exhibition have never before been seen on public display.

Films, objects, magazines and personal memorabilia are all included in the exhibition, allowing visitors to understand how the artist's life and work was influenced by war.

It also explores how awareness of modern conflict has been shaped by war.

Another exhibition on the art surrounding war is the Women War Artists exhibition, which explores the female response to conflict as eyewitnesses, participants, commentators and officially commissioned recorders.

It looks at both the constraints and possibilities offered to female artists in war time.
