London attractions: Ice Sunday at London Canal Museum

On July 24th, the museum allows visitors to descend into the Victorian ice wells beneath the ground floor, as part of the Festival of British Archaeology.
As well as all the fascinating exhibitions relating to London's waterways above ground, people taking part in this one-off event will see all kinds of "finds" from past excavations in the ice wells, which will be atmospherically lit with oil lamps.
Guides will be on hand to explain the history of the wells and answer any questions, and guests are advised not to wear their Sunday best to this event as the location can be very dusty.
Those who cannot make it this month can bring the kids to Children's Activity Day at the London Canal Museum, which is held weekly throughout August.
