Kew Bridge Steam Museum 'one of the top London attractions'
Published: Monday 26th of April 2010
Kew Bridge Steam Museum is well known as one of the top London attractions for visitors to the capital who are interested in transport, engineering and the UK's water supply system.
With the world's largest collection of steam pumping engines - many of which can be seen in operation every weekend – there is fun for all the family at this at once educational and entertaining visitor attraction.
And now is a great time to take the kids down to the Kew Bridge Steam Museum, because every Sunday from April until October visitors have the opportunity to ride on London's only steam railway.
But the incredible collection of steam pumping engines forms the "heart" of the museum, according to its official website.
"These comprise the Cornish engines, which are in their original engine houses, and the rotative engines, which have been collected by the museum trust from pumping stations across the country," it explains.
Kew Bridge Steam Museum, which was opened in 1975 by the Kew Bridge Engines Trust, is located just on the north side of Kew Bridge, under the tall Victorian Stand Pipe Tower.
