One of the more famous members of the British Army's Household Cavalry, Prince William, is to embark on a charity motorbike ride across Africa with his younger brother, it has emerged.
Second-in-line to the British throne, 26-year-old William will venture across the continent on a 1,000 mile trek, expected to take over a week, to raise money for his brother's AIDS charity, Sentebale, as well as UNICEF and the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund.
Speaking of the forthcoming adventure, William said: "This is a great way of doing something different. This is a way of raising money and showing support in a much more challenging way."
Harry, his 24-year-old brother who established the charity in 2006 in honour of their late mother Princess Diana, who was an active AIDS campaigner, added: "It's not just a bimble across the countryside that's for sure. It's going to be very challenging and we're expecting to fall off many a time, every day."
Reports say the brothers have made a bet as to who will fall off their motorbike the most during the gruelling journey.
'Sentebale' means 'Forget me not' in the official language of sub-Saharan African nation of Lesotho, where almost 25 per cent of the population are infected with HIV/AIDS.
The Household Cavalry is one of the most famous military corps in the British Army and its history is celebrated at the Household Cavalry Museum in London's Whitehall.
