Half-term at Florence Nightingale Museum
Published: Friday 23rd of January 2009
London's Florence Nightingale Museum is planning some extra special events for the half-term period in February.
One of the reasons for Nightingale's enduring appeal is the thousands of letters she wrote during her lifetime, which provided a vivid portrait of the woman and her thoughts.
Using this theme, the London museum is to hold a series of special days from February 14th to February 22nd to explore the art of letter writing.
On Valentine's Day, the 14th, visitors can see how people wrote letters during Nightingale's lifetime, as well as get the chance to create their own cards and stamps.
Other days will focus on letter writing, while February 20th will show visitors what a day in the life of a museum curator is like.
Another fun activity will take place on February 21st, when guests at the museum can learn how Nightingale, with the help of Alexis Soyer, dramatically improved the food given to British soldiers during the Crimean War.
London Pass holders can save themselves £5.80 on admission when visiting the Florence Nightingale Museum.
