Get Out of the Dark at the Royal Artillery Museum

Published: Sunday 1st of February 2009

The Royal Artillery Museum - or Firepower as it's known to its fans - is hosting an exhibition called Out of the Dark until June 29th.

Showcasing the 230 years of the Royal Artillery Museum collection and features, Out of the Dark has 230 items taken from all over the world and put on display together for the first time.

Exhibits vary from the historically important to the novel - for instance, a lock of Napoleon's hair is on display, as is some armour made from elephant tusk.

The name has been chosen because the organisers feel that the exhibits have not seen the light of day in so long, and in some cases have been taken from the "darkest sore room cupboard".

However, the 230 items mark just a fraction of the London museum's collection - it has picked up around 3,500,000 items over the past two centuries.

London Pass holders can gain free access to Firepower, the Royal Artillery Museum.
