Falling London hotel prices 'could attract more visitors'
Published: Sunday 29th of March 2009
London hotels are leading the way in reducing prices for visitors, new figures show.
Prices for rooms in the capital were down 24 per cent in the final three months of 2008, compared to the same period a year before, according to the Hotels.com Hotel Price Index.
The average price across the UK fell by 12 per cent to £93 per room, with an extra boost for those visiting from Europe and the USA because of the weakness of the pound.
Visitors taking in London attractions and looking for hotels in the capital gave online searches for accommodation a 49 per cent boost.
"There are some fantastic deals to be had and you can enjoy all this country has to offer for less than you've ever paid before," comments Patricia Yates, director of strategy and insights at Visit Britain.
Earlier this month, Which? Holiday stated that the UK is a great place for a holiday as it offers something for everyone.
Visitors to London can save even more on their trip with a London Pass.
