Everything is 'fine and dandy' at the London Cartoon Museum

Published: Friday 27th of June 2008

Those looking for outstanding places to visit in London may be interested in visiting the London Cartoon Museum's forthcoming Beano and Dandy "birthday bash".

Held from July 30th until November 2nd, the Beano and Dandy Birthday Bash is a perfect opportunity to see some of the best-known and much-loved characters from both magazines, including the Bash Street Kids and Desperate Dan.

The Dandy comic was first published in 1937, while the Beano first appeared a year later in 1939. Initially, both comics were published on alternate weeks as a consequence of the rationing of both paper and ink products.

"On February 23rd 2006 London's first cartoon museum opened to the public. Situated at 35 Little Russell Street, a stone's throw from The British Museum, The Cartoon Museum exhibits the very finest examples of British cartoons, caricature, and comic art," said the museum.

Beryl the Peril and Mini the Minx will also be making an appearance.

London Pass holders can receive free entry to the Cartoon Museum.
