Published: Friday 6th of February 2009
One of London's lesser-known visitor attractions has unveiled a fascinating new exhibition this weekend, which focuses on an important part of the natural earth and one which has had such an important role to play in the lives of so many.
Museum of London Docklands has opened Landfall, which explores the Atlantic Ocean as a means of transport and as a way of life.
A number of famous artists will be contributing works which seek to encapsulate the sprit of this majestic, yet fearsome aspect of the global environment, including Beth Secor, Godfried Donkor and Dominique Le Gendre.
Themes of departure, return and aspirations will be engaged with through a range of visual arts including textiles, video installations and drawing.
The exhibition runs until May 31st, with a number of accompanying events such as expert talks and workshops on photography mapping and family ancestor portraits running alongside the main attraction.
LondonPass holders can gain free entry to the Museum of London Docklands, saving £5 for adults.
