Churchill's favourite hotel bar inspires new fashion line

Published: Thursday 25th of December 2008

One of London's top hotel bars, which was a favourite haunt of British wartime leader Sir Winston Churchill, has been cited as an inspiration for a new women's fashion line.

The Royal Horseguards has been named alongside the Charring Cross, the Cumberland and the Tower as the influences behind Aimee McWilliams' latest project.

The designer's work comes at an appropriate time as the hotel is due to open its doors in February next year following a major multimillion pound refurbishment.

Sir Winston Churchill led Great Britain during the Second World War and went on to serve in the highest office again in the 1950s. He was given a state funeral when he died aged 90.

The Churchill Museum and Cabinet War Rooms in central London offers a fascinating insight into the man himself and the role he played in steering the nation through its darkest hour.

LondonPass holders can gain free access to the attraction, saving £12 for adults.
