Carol service at the Foundling Museum
Published: Thursday 11th of December 2008
As the festive season begins a special London museum is to hold a carol service with a difference on December 13th.
London's Foundling Museum is to hold this special event partly to celebrate Christmas and partly to remember the important work of the hospital which the museum was established to commemorate.
Former pupils of the Foundling Hospital will be in attendance at the service in the Picture Gallery, participating alongside members of the Old Coram Association in a selection of traditional carols.
The Foundling Hospital opened in 1739 and sought tirelessly to look after abandoned and orphaned children from across the capital until its closure in 1926.
It was supported by three of the leading figures in London society: sea captain Thomas Coram, German composer G F Handel and the artist William Hogarth.
LondonPass holders can enjoy free entry to the Foundling Museum – and with it admission to the carol service – making a saving of £5 for adults.
