Published: Thursday 11th of February 2010

People on the lookout for exciting things to do in London may want to consider a visit to Windsor Castle, with a range of exciting local events taking place this month.

A special programme of activities will take place in Maidenhead on February 13th to mark Chinese New Year, with a particularly family-friendly highlight being a session of Chinese lantern-making for kids between 11am and 3pm.

Then on February 16th it will be an all-action affair to celebrate the joy of pancakes, as local businesses take part in the ancient tradition of pancake racing with a dash across Windsor and Eton Bridge to commemorate Shrove Tuesday.

The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead is said to be a perfect choice for a long weekend or group visit, with its many historic towns and villages dotted around the beautiful countryside.

As an official residence of the Queen, the stunning Windsor Castle is the largest occupied castle in the world and has a history that dates back more than 900 years as a royal home and fortress.
