Wellington Arch 'one of the top London attractions for stunning views'
Published: Wednesday 7th of April 2010
People searching for the best views in London will find that the vistas surrounding Wellington Arch mark it out as one of the most scenic London attractions.
Moved to its present site at Hyde Park Corner in 1882, this historic London attraction was originally commissioned as a grand outer entrance to the Queen's main residence of Buckingham Palace.
"For glorious panoramas over London's Royal Parks and the Houses of Parliament, take the lift to the balconies just below the spectacular bronze sculpture surmounting the arch," advises the English Heritage website.
And it's not just the area surrounding Wellington Arch that makes it such a memorable day out – once inside, visitors have three floors of exhibits to peruse as they soak in its absorbing history.
Meanwhile, thebookseller.com has reported that book sleeve images from the author Philippa Gregory's latest historical romp The White Queen will be projected on to Wellington Arch on April 15th, the day of the book's publication.
