Walk London to take in "impressive" architecture
Published: Saturday 13th of June 2009
Visitors to the English capital looking to take in the spectacle of London historic buildings are being advised to embark on a five-mile walk through the city.
Starting in the shadow of Centre Point, the route takes in the City of London and modern landmarks such as the Barbican, the Guardian explains.
It then takes walkers across the Thames via the Millennium Bridge and on to Tate Modern and the South Bank.
"London's 20th-century architecture can be as impressive and artistic as anything from Victorian or medieval times," the news provider comments.
The walk, prepared with the help of the 20th Century Society, visits buildings by architects including Norman Foster, Richard Rogers and Giles Gilbert Scott, such as the Barbican Estate and Senate House.
At the end of the walk, visitors are advised to rest their feet at one of the many cafes in the Southbank Centre.
Walkers interested in politics might like to try the walk along the Thames, past Fulham Palace and to the debating chamber in Barnes.
London visitors can walk the city without paying a penny and then take in London attractions for free with a London Pass.
