Tower Bridge to host veterans' parade

Published: Tuesday 23rd of June 2009

Plans have been announced for a veterans' parade across Tower Bridge to honour the armed forces.

Mayor of London Boris Johnson said the parade would take place this Friday (June 26th) at 12:15 BST to carry on from the previous successes of British Armed Forces Day in Trafalgar Square last year.

"Soldiers, sailors and airmen are immensely grateful for the backing of the British public and when they march through their home towns to the applause of a crowd they feel ten feet tall," noted General Sir Richard Dannatt.

The festivities will be followed by a free public event in Potters Fields Park on Tooley Street, with everyone invited to attend free of charge.

Visitors to the city can also take advantage of the Tower Bridge Exhibition free of charge thanks to the London Pass, saving £7 per adult and £3 per child.
