Things to do in London: Eltham Palace to showcase its history
Published: Wednesday 8th of December 2010
On February 2nd, Eltham Palace plays host to two medieval guided tours which will take guests on a fascinating journey of the location's history, with a particular focus on the restored Great Hall.
Then, on February 9th, visitors can explore the more recent history of the palace at the Art Deco guided tour, which explains more about life at the site in the 1930s, when it was owned by textile tycoons Stephen and Virginia Courtauld.
Eltham Palace was used as a royal residence by Edward II from 1305 and remained an important place for the monarchy, as it was known as the favourite palace of Henry IV and believed to be an important location in the founding of the Order of the Garter.
